Nandamuri Balakrishna and Bapu have come together to create a devotional magnum opus, Sri Rama Rajyam. The movie has Balakrishna playing the role of Lord Rama, Nayanatara in the role of Sita and Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu as Valmiki. Sri Rama Rajyam released all over the world today and there are some pretty high expectations on this film. Let us see how the movie fares.

Story:
The director has done a good job by starting the film with the arrival of Rama and Sita to Ayodhya after vanquishing Ravan in Lanka. Rama is now the king of Ayodhya. Under his rule the people are happy and prosperous. Just when everything seems to be going fine, a comment by a washer man makes Rama to send Sita away into the forest. From here the real story of Sri Rama Rajyam begins. Sita is given shelter by Sage Valmiki. He keeps her identity a secret and looks after her as his own daughter. Sita gives birth to Lava and Kusha. Valmiki imparts knowledge to them and also teaches them how to use weapons (Artha Sastra). They also study Ramayana and Valmiki asks them to preach the story across the length and breadth of Ayodhya. At this juncture, Rama plans to conduct Ashwamedha Yagnam for the welfare of the people. What happens next should be seen on-screen.

Performance:
Balakrishna as lord Rama is simply superb. He carries the role with the necessary poise, dignity and intensity. Nayanatara as Sita is the perfect choice. She conveys emotions through her eyes beautifully. She is an asset to the film. ANR as sage Valmiki has done an excellent job. Srikanth as Lakshman is okay. KR Vijaya, Murali Mohan, Roja, Brahmanandam and others appear in brief roles and do their job as per the requirements of the script. The two children, who play the role of Lava and Kusha, are cute and suit their characters aptly.

Verdict:
Sri Rama Rajyam is one of those films which can be showcased as examples of what the Telugu Film Industry can do. Bapu has delivered a stunning mythological masterpiece. Balakrishna and Nayanatara are majestic as the divine couple of Rama and Sita. Outstanding music and background score, high quality special effects and some very grand visuals make this movie a great watch. Lack of commercial elements and limited appeal to students & front benchers might hamper the movie in some areas. The true Box Office range will depend on how the family crowds and elders embrace the film. Thumbs up for Sri Rama Rajyam. Go and immerse yourself in this divine experience.
